Depends for what course, and ow you mean by "better". if you're going to use the league tables from the sunday times then East Anglia.

But i'd say Leeds because i'm biased

East Anglia is definetly the best for arts subjects and is regarded by many as the best in the country for environmental science.
Exeter and Leeds are the best for engineering subjects.
Im not sure what Essex is good for, haven't heard much about it.

East Anglia has been top 20 in The Times league tables for the last few years and is 12th in the Guardian tables. The other 3 are all between 20 and 35, so on paper East Anglia is the best.

But like I said before, East Anglia is one of the best in the country for Arts subjects but doesnt actually offer engineering subjects. Leeds isnt a great uni, but offers more courses than any other uni. Ive heard Exeter is good for science and engineering subjects, and I have no idea about Essex!

Leeds is the university that has the most applicants every year. Its very big, but not too spread out like other big city universities.

I had a tough choice choosing between East Anglia and Leeds as my Firm acceptance. In the end I chose East Anglia because they have far better sports facilities (Leeds had none), the accomodation was mainly on campus (some of the Leeds accomodation was quite a hike away) and the offer I got from Leeds was a bit higher than the one from UEA, so I thought it best to go for the safer offer. Thinking about it now, I'm glad I did chose UEA because the atmosphere is a lot friendlier and relaxed, and the city is nice with a good nightlife, but not too big and scary.
Exeter because thats where im going!!! yupeeeeeee

..of these uni's do you think is better?

Essex
East Anglia
Exeter
Leeds

Any help will be good help!

Leeds, but I'm biased. It does have sports facilities tho, theres a big sports centre thing on campus with what I assume are all the facilities you'd expected, I don't really know tho, I'm the least sporty people in the world, have sat a fair few exams in there tho. Only thing is, despite the size of the university, theres no swiomming pool!

The city's the fastest growing city in europe, so if its the lifestyle your after Leeds would be a better choice. Guess it all really depends on what course your looking at.

Ah when I went to Leeds they didn't show me the sports centre. But the new centre at UEA is fantastic, you can do virtually any marshal art under the sun, wall climbing - there is so much there. And having a swimming pool is quite important for me because I swim regularly (used to compete quite a bit) and I don't want to stop swimming completely, otherwise I'll get unfit!!!

I think everyone is biased towrds whichever uni they go to, we all like to believe we are going to somewhere good!

Me and Chicken have argued for UEA becuase we are going there, G4ry and ditzy went for Leeds becuase that's where they're going and Ollie went for Exeter!!

I think it's safe to say they are all in the second tier of uni's (behind uni's like York and Warwick), but they all specialise in a certain area making them better for some subjects than these top ranked uni's. So, as said before, it depends what course you want to do.

I might be biased towards UEA but I did like Leeds a lot!!! If their offer had been lower (or I thought I might be able to get higher grades) I would have chosen there instead!!

Well, in my mind, I definetly wanted to go to Newcastle before I applied. I was accepted to there but I couldn't get the saturday off work to visit their open day, so I decided to choose UEA instead. Really stupid reason for not going to my 1st choice uni, but there was no way I was gonna go somewhere without visiting.

My second choice was Durham but I then realised it wasn't very good for CS and I didnt like the college I was accepted to. UEA was originally just my safety choice because it had the lowest entry grades out the 6 I appied to. I was accepted to all 6 but ended up with it as my 1st choice because I liked the campus and city more than the others.

No its not - East Anglia is 19th in The Times, 12th in The Guardian. Exeter is 20th in The Times, 31st in The Guardian. Though admittedly the Guardian isn't as reliable as THe Times, so really its pretty much equal!!!

Leeds is 29th in The Times, 20th in The Guardian.
Essex is 33rd in The Times, 17th in The Guardian.
