You could get by with under £30. A loaf of bread is about 27p that should last a few days and a hot drink may cost 50p or a bit more.

I doubt whether even the most hard-up London students live this spartan an existence.

You never said anything about having a roof over your head, or for a student. You just asked how much an adult needs to survive in london for a month.
lol, personally I find that £400 a month is quite a common figure. Lots of my friends are on the same kind of budget which helps when you want to go out as you can afford the same places. That kind of budget actually allows for quite a comfortable life in London.

This figure is excluding accommodation btw. For that you can add another £300 to around £600 a month.

I know that these figures sound like a lot (and they are) but it's the reality of London. London isn't a cheap place and if you want to have a really good time here (go clubbing, to restaurants etc) then it costs money.
Getting by on under £30 is not a spartan existence.

You can easily spend £15 on food and drink if you make your own meals out of veg and a little bit of meat (chicken is the cheapest), and if you go to supermarkets late in the day, there's always cheap offers.

Only go out once a week. Or never, if you don't want to.

Have your friends round (that is, have them bring the drink) rather than going to the pub/club.

Don't take the tube; get a bike.

If you never go out, then it's cheap. If you don't have to get a Travelcard all the time to go into C.London (if your accomodation is outside Zone 1), then it's even cheaper.

Or just don't live in London! You can't get instant noodles for 8p in the big city, but out in the sticks... *thinks fondly of Tesco value products*
To me Cardiff isnt that much cheaper than London though- I live in Cardiff during the holidays and can quite easily spend as much there as I do in London.

moral of the story: don't buy alchohol, it's too expensive...

why spend fifteen quid on 750cc of liquid, when you can buy enough food to last you a week?

it depends you can survive on very little food but as for living that costs more as it includes socialising which can be pricey

I would say bring about another £2000 more just in case.
Which uni are you going to btw?

£7500 is roughly £800ish a month, which should be OK for food and accommodation. Generally though, the more you have the better- £7500 is pretty much the minimum.

Anyone do Law?
I would like to ask if a British National (Oversea) (not British Oversea but this nationality is special for Hong Kong people before handover - according to the IND) citizen has a medical problem, do we pay the same fee as a British (free for some case) or do we have to pay way more?
