How do you feel about Year 9 so far?

Hey guys!!! I'm a Year 9 malayali girl who writes out their life story whenever they want to procrastinate and my posts are a little sporadic but if you watch my thread you'll probably get a couple of helpful revision tips along the way

My GCSE subjects 😱:

Year 9 is fine for me rn, the only real difference from year 8 is now, I have many more assessments...

Hey guys, I'm in Year 9 and currently procrastinating doing my hwk in order to make this blog

The aim of this blog really is to keep myself motivated and post any revision techniques I find along the way. Obviously, I'm a long way away from GCSEs but I'm hoping that I can start experimenting with revision schedules and discovering more techniques to study smarter so I can watch my kdramas in peace

Pls feel free to post how Y9 is going for you guys and hopefully you'll see me later!

Welcome to Grow Your Grades! It's never too early to start perfecting your technique and hopefully this blog will be a great way to stay on top of everything.

What was the homework you were avoiding?

Hey guys!
:burnout:

Thankfully, this week isn't as HECTIC as last week when I had 5 assignments due for Thursday:eek: and 2 tests (Physics and Maths) so I'm dedicating this sacred free time to my blog:excited:

For anyone who's lost in procrastination, I'd recommend this 3-step-rule (SPOILER: there will be alot of 3-step-rules in my blog)

Spoiler

Today I'm going to make a revision schedule for the next week (I'll post it later) and now that I've posted it I'm going to follow through! I also have some art, history and (more) english hwk to complete which I'll do at around 6. I BELIEVE IN MYSELF

Ty guys for reading so much it's my first blog and I haven't actually read many others so I'm hoping this is what a blog should be lol, I'll see you at 6!
EDIT AT 6: Haven't done anything got distracted my friends keep videocalling me
EDIT AT 6.51: Done my history and art but apparently I can only understand the english hwk once we've done our next lesson

SUMMARY - Probs need to follow my own advice and just do it but I'm proud that I'm not doing hwk the day before it's due!

Thank you!!! It's really motivating to hear that and I'll make sure to annoy my friends throughout the day with messages:aetsch: Atm, I'm learning about the history of Russia in the 1900's (my hwk was about what happened to the Romanov family)

Oh that's such a cool topic! I've never been able to convince my brain that Rasputin was a real person because he just seems so much like a cartoon villain. So you're covering the whole Revolution period, I guess?

Hahahaha that's true he is very much a stereotypical villain. Yep from Tsar Nicholas to the Bolsheviks, it's actually very interesting to learn about!

IT IS TIME TO START REVISION (below are all my revision paths for each subject)

Spoiler

15:18 - Took another break even though I've literally only done my biology flashcards and then my mum said I stopped growing. Will I remain this short for the rest of my life?:cry2:

21:41 - FINALLY NEARLY DONE BIOLOGY I'LL DO THE MINDMAP TMRW, did some biology on bitesize too because there were some things I didn't understand properly

Hopefully the biology test tmrw goes well because otherwise I'm blaming physics and maths tutor (an amazing rescource)

I was very motivated yesterday and now I'm kind of ded. I got that RS test tmrw which everyone is sharing around but I don't really feel like revising. RS just feels so useless especially because I'm not taking it for GCSEs but whatever:colonhash:

On the positive side, Biology went pretty well and I'm glad I revised because for once what I revised actually came up. I think its because all our sciences are AQA for our year whereas they used to be Biology OCR, Chemistry AQA and Physics Edexcel. So now it feels like physics is harder and biology is easier which is better for me!

If you're reading this, I believe in you, keep your revision momentum!

Also, if you're wondering why I used those revision techniques for biology (in the post above) its because I follow this 3-step-rule:

1) UNDERSTAND:groovy::banghead:

Spoiler

2) MEMORISE:burnout:

3) APPLY :u:

Just realised how long my previous posts have been . Don't worry I'll make this short since I haven't actually done much since I had taekwondo (it's really fun, I was breaking boards with my hand [or trying more like]).

Done my RS test and didn't finish like the rest of my class - this is why:

which is better than the other class because they had to do it in 30 mins

I might do my maths hwk now but I'm leaving my art hwk and probably my spanish revision as well for tmrw BECAUSE

Edited moi revision post for biology etc. (W2)
Ngl I'm feeling pretty stressed because I haven't got a lot of time today or tmrw but I need to send a picture of art (which is pretty blank lol) and my physics hwk is taking ages and I have english hwk and I just feel like this weekend is going by too fast (look at my polysyndeticness). School just seems so longggggg

Hey guys!
:burnout:
Got seven assignments and 4 tests next week (chemistry, geography, english, french) :frown: SO I will be doing a lot of revision and hwk for the next week THEREFORE I am taking this time to relax and just do the hwk due for tmrw and the day after (procrastinator logic)

I also having some really nice mocha which I am using to stay awake

DO NOT ADMIT DEFEAT TO PROCRASTINATION

THE FIRST HALF-TERM IS OFFICIALLY OVER:dancing:
(Actually so proud tho)

This is your time to relax, organise or if you have the energy to: REVISE

but because we've completed a whole 7 weeks of school already and I'm pretty sure we're all kind of sick of revising 10 hrs a day and getting 10 percent on our tests:

Spoiler

(Ima start on Monday because my sister came over yesterday from London so we have to go back to London tmrw to drop her off)

WATCH THIS THREAD (I PROMISE I HAVE SO MUCH I HAVE LEARNED AND SO MANY RESOURCES TO SHARE):vroam:

#W4 HALF TERM - WHAT DO YOU REVISE?
30/10/23 - MONDAY

Sometimes we have all the revision methods and the mocha but WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY REVISE?
1) Find out what your exam board is (OCR, AQA, Edexcel) and visit their site
2) Find the specification for that subject eg. AQA Chemistry GCSE specification = https://filestore.aqa.org.uk/resources/chemistry/specifications/AQA-8462-SP-2016.PDF

OR

There's the textbook but schools usually give those really late in Y9 (or Y10) even though we start the topics at the start of Y9

IT HAS BEEN SO LONG (but not long enough for you guys I bet lol).

After taking an impromptu break from blogging, I feel enlightened for some reason. I also came back to THE WHOLE SITE JUST BEING REFORMED. It's literally like changing every few seconds I can't keep up. I do kind of like the change though because it is so much easier to use, just wish the letter spacing is smaller cuz I can't even read my own post🤣

Wait is there no spoiler button ~ disgraceful

I'm having like 1 or 2 tests every week CONSISTENTLY now which is probably why I was getting burned out (I'd much rather have all the tests on the last week of half-term). To stop burnout I would recommend getting a hobby or doing a project - for example, I'm trying to publish a notion template that will hopefully help procrastinators (like me) and people who have no idea what they're doing (like me). This is Notion btw https://www.notion.so/templates. Please like (give rep?) this post to motivate me lol

TAMBIEN FOLLOW THE Y9 THREAD LET'S MAKE IT TRENDING 😤

WE FINALLY GOT OUR GCSE SCIENCE BOOKS!!!
Which feels kinda weird because it's exciting but it also makes the fact that I'm doing my GCSEs soon feel real. I'm going to set some targets for myself as well because if I just try to keep up with homework and cramming for tests I might stop achieving and enjoying my own learning journey and projects.

START BREAKING MY REVISION JOURNEY INTO CHUNKS AND THEN AWARDING MYSELF EACH STEP OF THE WAY (it's important to know your progress because otherwise your goal might feel impossible)

FINISH MY NOTION TEMPLATE (it's so fun to design!)

REDUCING STRESS (whether that's by talking to my family or my pet fish or exercising or painting)

Other stuff:
I finished watching the six seasons of mha and I'm so glad there are more seasons coming
I'm literally depending on Cajun Koi academy
